From the first days of the foundation of KazNUA (KazNAM), there has been a concertmaster skill department, created and included in the piano faculty in 1998 under the guidance of Gulzhan Aidabulova, associate professor, laureate of republican and diplomat of international competitions, winner of the medal named after Ybyrai Altynsarin. In the first years Shotkalieva, Ustimirova, Umbetalieva and Ivanova actively worked in the department.

Over the years, the department was also headed by Rosa Shotkaliyeva, associate professor, honorary worker of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, “Madeniet salasynyn uzdigi”, as well as Dolores Umbetaliyeva, diplomat of international competitions. The current head of the department is Anara Kamelinova, a diplomat of international competitions and “Madeniet salasynyn uzdigi”.

Teachers of the department focus on the education of highly qualified specialists in the field of ensemble performance, the training of personnel for creative groups, opera houses, musical educational institutions, philharmonics and concert organizations.

The main principles in the work of the pedagogical department are the development of students’ creative attitude to accompaniment, understanding the role of a pianist in an ensemble, the development of practical skills useful for concertmaster work in all areas, including the ability to read from a sheet and to transpose.

Since its foundation, the teachers of the department, in addition to teaching, have been successfully performing concerts with leading soloists of the creative collectives of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Our professors have numerous titles of the “Best Accompanist” of republican and international competitions. Also, they take part as members of the jury of international competitions for vocalists and accompanists.

Along with the teachers of the department, the main staff of concertmasters and illustrators was created, which compose an integral part of the educational and concert-performing activities.

For more than 20 years of KazNAM, and then KazNUA, the number of accompanists has increased significantly, and most of them are graduates of our university.

The work of the department would not have been possible without the creative union of teachers with illustrators, namely Kozlov S.K. (bass), Associate Professor Tlenchieva R.R. (soprano), Professor Zhumakenov Kh.A. (flute), leading soloists of the Astana Opera, Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zh. Zhyltyrkozov, Associate Professor Ismailov G.I., Umarov S.K. (clarinet), Associate Professor of KazNUA Kabykeeva D.Sh. (soprano), laureates of international competitions Taraskin A. (flute), Makhpirova D., Saparova N. (oboe), Mamyrbaev E. (trombone), Grigorieva N. (flute), Fedyakina E.V. (soprano), Sagyndykova R.S. (soprano), Zhusupova B.U. (mezzo-soprano), Khasyanova T.V., Ganzha E.V. (soprano).

The result of the completion of the curriculum of the student in the discipline “Concertmaster skill” is the holding of the state exam with the participation of invited Chairmen of the SEC, including:
A. Isakova – Professor of the Moscow Institute of Culture. Ippolitova-Ivanova, member of the Union of Composers of the USSR

The profession of a concertmaster implies the possession of a set of professional skills in the art of accompaniment, without which a full-fledged creative union of musicians is impossible.
